ELIGIBILITY
The Human Resource Certification
Institute grants certification after the applicant has:
- Verified current full time
professional exempt-level experience in the field as
either a practitioner, educator, researcher or
consultant, and has
- Passed a comprehensive written
examination to demonstrate mastery of knowledge.
Candidates must have two (2) years of
HR exempt-level experience to earn either the
Professional in Human Resources (PHR)
designation or the
Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
designation.

Do you have questions
about documenting your continuing education activities
for recertification? Wondering how your on-the-job
experience or leadership activities will convert to
recertification credits? Visit HRCI's Virtual
Recertification Counselor archive where
you will find
answers to many of your questions. Or, view this

process.
As a reminder, you may
submit your completed recertification application online
at any time after you have accumulated the required 60
credit hours. All SPHRs must earn at least 15 of their
60 recertification credit hours in Strategic Management
and pay the recertification
fee. If you have already
submitted your recertification application, please note
that the current processing time is 6- 8 weeks from the
submission date. To log in to your personal online
recertification file and post your recertification
activities, please log on to the HRCI Website and click
on the "My Recert File" link on the right side of the
homepage. If you don't know or can't remember your HRCI
ID number, follow the link on the homepage to retrieve
your information.
